Math FocusUnit One - Place Value
Students will be taking an in depth look at place value and explaining the patterns they see in the place value system. They will need to expand their knowledge by using these patterns to understand decimal place values as well as representing numbers in standard, written, word, and scientific form. Unit Two - Multiplication and Division Students will need to accurately and efficiently solve multi-digit multiplication and division problems. In addition, they will be expected to apply their knowledge to solve real world problems and justify their answers. Unit Three - Decimals Students will need to understand the decimal place value system to multiply and divide decimals and whole numbers by multiples of 10. In addition, students should be able to add, subtract, multiply,and divide decimals with accuracy. Unit Four - Fractions Students will need to understand how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. Yikes! Multiplying and Dividing fractions are new skills this year, we will be spending extra time working so students understand these skills and are ready for middle school. |

Science FocusUnit Three - Communities
Students will end the year learning about the interactions between living organisms in ecosystems. Students will identify the major differences between producers and consumers and adaptations these organisms use in order to survive. |
