Reading News
It is a county requirement that fifth grade students read 25 books throughout the school year. Some novels will be covered in class; however, students are expected to be reading at home. Students are expected to read TWO grade level appropriate books per month. Students will need to turn in a record sheet each month that details the book and several specific facts from the novel of their choice. In addition, some of these novels will be used for projects throughout the year. We understand that some fifth grade students want to challenge themselves and choose harder or longer books. If a student chooses a book that is advanced for fifth grade, we take that into consideration, and realize it may take them longer to complete the required reading.
